Answer

Yes, we offer individual coaching sessions for anyone hoping to start clay shooting, who is on holiday or hoping to improve on current skills in a relaxed and enjoyable way..

After a short briefing about facilities and security etc, our coach will give you 1.5 hours of personal tuition. This is ideal for holiday makers and can even fit in with a round of golf! All of our coaches have represented Ireland in the various shooting disciplines (described below).

The session starts with basic gun handling, body positioning and tips on eyesight etc. Just listen and learn!

When the coach see's that you can confidently shoot the 'birds' (that's what they call the clay's that are fired from the traps), they encourage you to 'work away' under supervision and offer comments on improving your basic knowledge and stance.

We have several types of clay trap set ups and for variation you will be shown how the difference clay target disciplines work. The options we offer are:

Down The Line (DTL) - clays rise in front of you from a trap placed above ground and may come out at any angle from Left to Right.

Automatic Ball Trap (ABT) - clays rise from a trap placed below ground, rising high and exit in a direction Left or Right.

Compact Sporting (CS) - clays come from all directions from traps laid around the firing shed. They can 'simulate' different kinds of field hunting and can come from over your head, behind you and even towards you.

To complete the session we can brief you on how to move on to gain more experience, which local or national organisation to join for networking and answer any questions you may have.

The 1st 1.5 hour session costs €150.00 (1 person) €130 (2 people) €120 (3 people) €110 (4 people) €100 (5 people) and thereafter €90.00 per hour (again reducing if there is a small group) for those who would like a second or more sessions. The fee for each session includes coaching, cartridges and the gun will be supplied by our qualified coaching staff.

A 50% deposit is payable to Bishops Mountain, 2 weeks in advance of the agreed date (we have special arrangements for short notice holiday makers if you are staying in one of our partner hotels) . Please see Contact us for the address to send the Cheque. This is a non-refundable deposit.

Clothing should be comfortable for the weather conditions. Always bring wet weather clothing as we like to start people off closer to the trap release area and go back into the covered stand when everyone has had some basic tuition.

Hearing and Eye protection will be provided, but if you have some, bring it along.
